{ Teacher Gifts 2013 - Part 2 }

Okay here are the rest of the Teacher Gifts that I did this year.
The Ruffle Apron's I've been making, are totally inspired by the Whatever Blog by Meg Duerksen. I've been an avid reader of her blog forever and am totally in love with her style and her craft weekends! I've seen hundreds of ruffled aprons, but her mix of fabrics just makes me want to craft!

This is the apron I made for Corbin's Teacher,
I so so so love how it turned out.

This one I already posted about, but here it is again. I made this one for Addison's Teacher.
Brinley had a male Teacher this year, and one of his most favorite things is Beef Jerky.

So I cut out a quick cardboard frame and printed out the note, then adhered it all to some manly scrapbook paper. Then, I stapled it to the package of Jerky.
He loved it!
We are into the full swing of summer vacation, in fact I have 8 kids at my house at this very moment. My friend Brooke is on her way home from The Farm Chicks Show and her booth did AMAZING, so I'm having her kiddo's over for the day.

PS. i miss school and all our fabulous teacher so much already.

{ A Hop, Skip & A Jump }

Okay & some dress info, but before all of that ,we are officially in Adairsville, Georgia!! We arrived yesterday and already Lloyd & his brother have installed carpet in his living room and now they are working on some tiling in the master bathroom.
SOOO while the boys worked my SIL Tia & I made the pilgrimage to Hobby Lobby and of course Wal-Mart to buy those few things I forgot to pack like Q-Tips & Shampoo.

I'm posting these pictures for my fab 5
(hi Jentry,Parker,Brinley,Corbin & Addison!) because I told them I would and second to prove to my husband that even on a semi-vacation he is still working!!! The man logged onto his work network at every airport we were at, he is such a work-a-holic. Does this come as a surprise to me? Yeah not so much!
See Addison I was on "your" plane! :)
Okay now about the charm pack dress I made for Addison.
 The last time I was in Tri-cities visiting my mom, I ran into one of my old grade school friends sister Jessica from Handy Pants at church & she had the cutest dress on her little girl. (sorry that was a mouth full)
When I asked her where she got it she said that she made it! After I got home I got on good ol' facebook and asked her where she got the pattern.

So here is the lowdown:
Charm Pack Dress Tutorial from Sew Inspired
 Inspiration from Jessica!
I loved Jessica's version so much that I even bought the same fabric charm pack, it just screams girly!

TIP: when I made Addison's dress I sewed together 4 rows of 11 squares, this is what Sew Inspired uses for a 2t but I found it worked great for Addison who is in a FIRM 3T.

Well I better run I have kids that I need to call!

{I Really Shouldn't Be Doing This }

Because frankly I really don't have time, but I can't help it! Addison's birthday is on Sunday, yes Halloween and she will be 3 so I'm scrambling to get this dress and a Halloween one done.
What I should be doing is:
*Laundry
*Packing for our trip to Georgia (we leave on Monday)
*Cleaning the house (again)
*Cleaning up dinner
*Drawing up 10 Stitchery's
*Wrapping presents
*Birthday decor made

**********
Need I go on???? No?
Good because I don't want to, I just hope I get everything done that needs done. Well I better get off of here & get something done.

Have a FABULOUS Weekend!

{ Baby Bjorn Carrier Cover Tutorial EASY }

I made this Baby Bjorn Carrier Cover over 2 years ago and I'm still getting emails on how I made it.
So needless to say this tutorial is long over due. I had loaned this carrier to someone and now that I have it back here is what I did step by step.
Keep in mind I'm no seamstress.... :)

Sorry I don't have any sewing pictures but trust me if I could make this then you know it's E.A.S.Y.

I would recommend using some cheap o' fabric first if you're nervous about sewing one of these together, then you can make your adjustments on it. Let's just call it your test cover. And as luck would have it I still had my test cover and here it is in all it's sad glory.

Supplies needed:
Fabric, fabric pen, sewing machine, scissors, baby carrier.

 Take straps off baby carrier and lay flat on your fabric.
Trace around your carrier with a fabric pen on wrong side of fabric, make sure to leave a 1/2 seam allowance between the carrier and your pen mark. As you can see on my tester I have a little more than 1/2 in some areas. Ignore that fact.
Place your traced fabric on top of your second piece of fabric right sides together then pin & cut your pattern out.

Unpin & hem the edges where the straps go through.
Pin your fabrics together again making sure you line up all your strap openings.
Sew around your cover.
Clip around all corners being careful not to clip your seam.
Then I turned it right side out and ironed it.

 Roll up your carrier like a crepe & stuff the carrier in one of the large side strap openings and adjust your carrier inside to fit. It's a tight fit but it works.

TIP: If you find some of your seams aren't very tight such it's too loose by the straps just take it off and sew around that curve a little more.
I had to do it to 2 of mine.

 I also would recommend sewing a zig-zag stitch around all your edges just to help finish it off and strengthen your seams.

After you have your seams how you like them place carrier back inside and you are good to go!
I'm all about slip covers as I have them on my Ikea furniture and having them on this cover was a blessing as you can just remove it and throw it in the wash if it gets dirty.

Hope this tutorial helps!

Have a Fabulous Weekend!

{ Retreat & A Scripture Bag }

I totally forgot to post about this cute scripture bag that I made for Brinley, so here it is. It's not perfect I didn't really use much of a pattern just some measurements. I think it turned out okay for my first try.
I got the idea from my awesome bloggy friend Shauna.
Yes, her bags are what mine is supposed to look like, but what are you gonna do. :) Check out her blog she comes up with the cutest stuff and her kids are all so dang cute,

Today I will be driving through this beautiful City (Spokane) on my way to Idaho to have a Retreat with my girlfriends!

 My mom is staying here with my kids THANKS MOM and I won't be home until Monday night LATE!
I'm sooooooo looking forward to spending time as Rachel and not Mom for a while. I have the most awesome group of girlfriends, we laugh, scrap & eat (not in that order) till the wee hours in the morning.
And this is my destination.

Don't you just feel sorry for me now?

{ CTR Towel Quick Tutorial }

I got this fabulous little idea from my Friend Hilary's blog- sorry ladies she's private, but she is ever so crafty and just as nice on the phone as she is on her blog! So Thanks Hilary!! With Brinley's baptism this coming Saturday I thought this would be a fun little gift for her. I made a second for our cousin's little girl who's baptism is the next day.

Supply list:
White Bath Towel
fabric of your choice
(I would stray away from prints with white, makes it hard to see on the towel)
Wonder Under
Sewing Pins
Iron
Sewing machine
CTR Pattern is just a Coloring Page, just Google it to find one and print it out.
Baptism Towel Poem- link- HERE

These would even make a great birthday gift with their name or shape on it
(princess crown, truck whatever!)
Oh the possibilities are endless!

1. Iron the Wonder Under to the wrong side or your fabric.
2. Then pin your pattern to your fabric and cut out.
3. Peel off paper backing and iron pattern onto towel.
4. Stitch around entire pattern.
5. Done!! I love quick and easy gift/crafts!
Here is the link to the Poem that I used to attach to our towels.

{My Cotton Prozac}

I know I have been missing from Blogdom for a while, but that's because I finished Addison's quilt, I finished my TV hutch and have been project-less for a few days. Yes I have found that when my dark cloud is hanging overhead having some form of "project" to do has been good for me.
Enter my Cotton Prozac!
Well, that and my Best'est Friend Ellen just had a baby yesterday so I now have a good excuse to make up something cute for her new little guy! So I'm going to be bonding once again with my rotary cutter and my sewing machine anything will be better than the vomit that has been coming out of my children the past few days. Yes we are living the good life around here. Hopefully I'll have something to post soon. :)

{ Vintage Baby Quilt }

It's done! I actually FINISHED making it! I'm pretty proud of myself as I think it turned out pretty darn cute & that it only took me a couple day's working on it here and there.
The quilt kit came from Quilt Taffy I think I'm going to make another but I want to make a twin size for Brinley. Don't know if it will work or not as that's a whole lotta fabric to be wrestling with while trying to stitch it all together.
Sigh.....decision's are the worst! :)

Edited: The Fabric used for this quilt was from
April Cornell's Poetry collection.

{A Little Of This & A Little Of That}

Just a catch up post here as I have been a bad blogger lately, and sadly I haven't been super busy just feeling tired and sore, thanks to my not sleeping at night and then working out yesterday on the darn elliptical and it's evil resistance levels.
I still think the elliptical makes a great coat rack, as a matter of fact that is it's other job! ;)
The birthday's went off without a hitch it was very low key this year. For Jentry's we had pizza with 3 friends & had a galactic good time with all things Star Wars. Ya gotta love boys who eat drink and breath all things George Lucas!

Then for Brinley's she choose to eat her birthday dinner at McDuck's aka McDonald's or as Corbin affectionately calls it Old McDonald's. :) She is now the proud owner of some new Littlest Pet shop creatures and loves them.
La' Heart Party!

Then yesterday I decided to get a little craftiness going and made a Valentine Tutu for Addison. I am hoping to get her some baby legs made & then I'll take some pics. I have such sad pathetic sewing skills so don't look too close.
And while all the above was going on we (as in Lloyd and I) have been stripping paint off of the "new" doors for the TV hutch and we still have a ways to go but it's getting there.

Can I just say that I would rather give Birth to Triplets naturally than strip paint. Next time we are just going to buy a new door and distress the crap out of it to make it look old. Paint stripping is just not for me....

lesson learned!

{Cheeky Monkey}

Well she's done! She's not perfect but dang it I actually finished it. Granted looking back there are thing's I would do differently while putting her together but she's going to have to do. Dang me and my pattern following ways.

Are you looking at her bum? Cheeky Monkeys! ;) Ahh SNL the good ol' days. Ya gotta love a little monkey tattoo.
Addison seems pretty happy with her new Molly Monkey even if it was intended for Christmas.
And in the middle of all my monkeying around I made a couple flower's for one of my Visiting Teaching ladies. She was gone on her birthday so I am going to sneak these over to her.
Well I had better get off of here. I must prepare for Jentry's birthday which is tomorrow, then Brinley's birthday is on Friday.
So brace yourself for a bit of birthday overload, I'm so not ready and this no horse town that I live in isn't helping one bit. Do you think I can find Star Wars figurines anywhere around here, well at least the ones he wants. Dang that Christmas holiday that wiped every out & dang these local stores that refuse to RESTOCK!!
P.S.~ If you would like to make a Molly Monkey of your own just click this link HERE and print off the pattern for yourself it's FREE!!
