{ Stamping Metal Washers - Stake Girls Camp Style }

Yup this is what is CONSUMING my time lately.
I have to stamp 280 washers all before the 21st.

I am some what surprised how quickly it is going though, I got ALL the small 3/8'' washers stamped this afternoon during nap time. Now I am working on the large 1/2'' washers. We are making necklaces out of these but I figured there would be no way that all the girls could stamp their own washers in a 1/2 hr. So I figured I would just do it and the girls can color the letters and string it with a ribbon & bead.

They are pretty stinking cute all done up I'll have to post a picture when I have Brinley wearing one. All I have to say is THANK GOODNESS for my Father in Law as I'm borrowing his stamps, large hammer and his 55 lb. anvil. You gotta love a man who has lots of tools. Thanks Don!

FYI:The theme for Girls camp this year is "Be strong & courageous it's a jungle out there".
I'm using THIS tutorial to make the necklaces. I even found the same ribbon (which was requested) for CHEAP we're talking 25 yards for $3.08 I'm getting 150 yards. I also found some awesome beads from Canada for a STEAL thanks to eBay.
I am well under my budget of $100.00 for 140 necklaces.
I love the Internet!

  2. Stake Girls Camp??? It's such a lot of work. But when it's all said and done it's so worth all the effort. The necklaces are going to be a hit. I love them. GREAT WORK, and good luck getting them finished.

  4. Very smart to stamp them ahead. We did this at camp too and it ended up that one or two girls and a leader did most of the stamping for the rest of the girls. They loved them though;)

  5. What a fabulous YW leader you are!! 140 necklaces? Craziness. But, I have found all good leaders in the church are a little crazy. (Good crazy :) ) It is what makes them so fabulous. We just get these fun ideas and go with them. And hey they work out too. Thanks for being an awesome leader. I am not in YW, but I really want to make some of these for ours. Love them. Maybe I will talk to the leaders and see if they would want them for something. Fun.

  9. Oh my word that's a ton of stamping! Do your hands hurt yet? I love it though! I tried a while back and sucked at it... then found out that you're supposed to do it on an anvil like you're doing... Now I just need an anvil... :)

  15. I love this project. Our stake camp theme was the same, & our ward made some cute washer necklaces also (different kind, but it's on my blog). I kept hearing hammering from the next ward over, & they were making necklaces like yours also. Ours were a different variation on the "washer" theme. I wonder if Home Depot has seen a spike in washer sales! Love your blog!
