A Little Hair Cut.

I braved the Friday the 13th curse and got a new do & took a picture of my big bad ugly self! And in while sitting in the hot seat I made a major decision (for the hair that is) And I GOT BANGS! I haven't seen bangs on this head for I don't know how long. I'm pretty sure that I like it, but then again it has only been 3 hours and 46 minutes since I got the chop & my love for it may change by tomorrow. Lets hope not.
On another note it's the Mother Daughter outing tonight and Me and the Girls are skipping. So I told Miss Brinley that I would take her out for Ice cream and maybe a movie of some sort. Lloyd has to work all weekend because they are having a Warehouse sale so we won't see him until tomorrow night sometime. So it's going to be just me and the kiddies this weekend. Oh and my new hair.
Alright you can all stop laughing now & get up off of the floor
I so loath pictures of myself. Yuck!

So Much To Do!

Things I should be doing but instead I'm being a laundress, a part time blogger and a potty training mama. 1-Painting big scary white furniture black. 2-Sewing Corbin's play panels together and making some serious cuteness with my Ginger Blossoms squares (thank you Quilt Taffy). 3-I also need to decide if I should use my tin tiles to make a headboard or some other form of Decor cuteness. Sigh...So much to do, so little time.

Vegetable Ham Alfredo Soup

Gasp Another Post!! Can you tell I'm stuck at home?
Today felt like a soup day with all the June snow, rain, and bits of sunshine plus it being a cool 39 degrees outside this meal just seemed to fit the bill. I got the recipe from Sherelle Christensen's blog & have loved it from the get go. It's not the most fit and light of meals (ruined my diet today) but it sure is dang good. My family loves it and if you like Alfredo like any good person should than you will love this soup. Plus it's super simple and I'm all about fast & easy meals with having 5 kids at home.
I had to improvise on a couple of my items, I used whole cut beans not french cut (didn't have any) and cubed carrots (didn't have any diced either) still turned out great! Sorry about the gloomy pic, it's just as gloomy outside. Later!
Vegetable Ham Alfredo Soup
-2 1/2 cups water
-3 Tbs. chicken bouillon
-1Tbs parsley
-salt & pepper
-1 small onion, chopped
-1 cup diced carrots
-2 small potatoes, peeled & diced
-1 cup frozen french cut green beans
-1 cup chopped ham
-1 jar Alfredo Sauce
-1 8oz pkg. cream cheese
-1/2 cup heavy cream
-1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Bring water, bouillon, salt & pepper and parsley to boil in large pot. Add vegetables & simmer until tender. In a medium saucepan, warm sauce, cream cheese, cream and cheese on medium heat until combined. Add to vegetable mixture and then add in chopped ham. Serve with bread.
Total sidenote: We once again have TV! (see post below) Thanks to my handy husband & my fabulous Father in Law who just so happened to have an extra dish hanging in his shop with nothing to do. Thanks Lloyd I so you & the kids you too! Also thanks Don you didn't know you were saving the spare dish for us did you? Gee I hope Lloyd told you that we kinda sorta borrowed it. :)

The Aftermath

Mother Nature's on the rampage again! The wind was horrible last night. Our electricity went out around 1:30 and was out for at least 3 hrs. Then we wake up this morning and see that it's SNOWING! And now it's raining buckets of Stay at Home Mom's tears because our kids are stuck inside when they want to be outside riding bikes and jumping on trampolines a.k.a. leg breakers. Then we noticed that our satellite dish got severely bent (thank you huge broken branch). But on the up side it's suppose to be in the upper 70's on Thursday you know kinda like a hot flash, crazy Menopausal Mother Nature!
Well, off I go to buy another dish, if Lloyd thinks I am going to whole summer with 5 kids at home and a broken dish he's got another thing coming. It's not as though I will have them watching TV all day. But it sure is nice to have the option of them sitting down for an hour to watch a show so I can get some peace.
That right there is worth it's weight in gold.
Hey Bridget you've been one upped! Insert evil laugh here. MOHAHAHA..... just kidding!

My Pear Urns!

Well I finally got them done last night. They are not exactly how I want them but when you only have your local Wal-Mart craft section to work with, this is what you get.
So, the next time I get out of this puney little no-where-to-shop-for-cute-crafts town, I am picking up some bigger gingham ribbon, because I just know they are screaming for something a little wider.
I also might change out the twiggy stuff but that's another day. I will be changing out the pears for pumpkins come fall as these little babies are ever so versatile!

Anyway, 1 project down & many more to go.
Soon I will be tackling large furniture pieces with a paint brush & black paint.
I'm pretty sure that I have Lloyd scared out of his tighty whiteys & wondering where he went wrong with me. Trust me I will be posting pictures of the new paint project.

My thanks go out to Joys of Home for inspiring my total copy of her cute urns.
Granted I love♥ her urns more,
but you gotta admit I am so good at copying cute ideas!

{ This Post Brought To You By The Number 3 }

Well for some reason this past Thursday my day seemed to revolve around the Number
1. I went to the kids last school assembly where my 3 kids got 3 awards they didn't know they were getting.

2. Then I sat through 3 Student led conferences where my 3 kids showed me all their accomplishments they did in school this year. I was at the school for 3 hours.

3. I made 3 Teacher thank you gift's (which I thought turned out stinking cute, thank you Heidi Swapp).

4. Went to Parker's last b-ball game & watched him Bat 3 times, I also was in charge of snacks so i took doughnuts & came home with only 3 left.

5. Then after the game I made 3 gifts for my 3 Visiting Teaching Gals (which I shamelessly blog lifted from Hilary you have such fabulous ideas thanks).

6. I used 3 spools of Kelly Green Polka Dot Ribbon making the 3 & 3 gifts.

7. Then my friend Melissa (1) and I (2) took our VT gal (3) out for her Birthday dinner.

8. Then I came home and pondered how to finish my 3 Pear Urns that I want to decorate with (I have big decorating plans for stuff around my house I'll update those as I finish them).

See I told you 3's!!! I have never had a day like this one coincidence?
I think not.
Maybe I should start playing the Lotto.
I'm thinking I'll use the number...

{ Teacher Thank You Gifts }

EDITED 5.17.12: Link for the printable tag is at the
bottom of this post!

I realized yesterday that I had NO gifts for my kids teachers at school.
So after the kids awards assembly this morning I ran to Wal-Mart and did a little thank you shopping.

I have thoroughly loved all of my kids teachers and this year was no exception. All of the kids' teacher's are so great & they all genuinely love each of their kids in class. LOVE THAT. Anyway I was a total slacker & procrastinator and had to use last years idea (which I got from Heidi Swapp). Hey my brain is goo but at least I did something, then I waited for the kids to get home off the bus (only because I was still putting them together) then we ran off to the school in hopes that the teacher's would still be there.
We were in luck and they all LOVED this gift.
It always seem to be a big hit.
I used a beach towel, sunscreen, magazine, and a snack.
Top it all off with a little note and some ribbon.
I love it when things come together quickly.

The last day of school is tomorrow so should be busy.
Maybe now that my kids will be home & I don't have to run around so much I can get some crafts done, heaven knows its been awhile.

Easy Chicken Salsa Bake

You only need 3 items for this dish
1 Jar salsa
1 Cup brown sugar
Chicken tenders or breasts (I used about 13 frozen tenders)
Pour Salsa over chicken
Sprinkle brown sugar on top of salsa and chicken.Bake @ 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes.
After it's baked I shred the chicken with 2 forks. Then I it put back in oven for an additonal 10 minutes.Seriously this is the easiest thing to make in the world. And I always have these items in my pantry. I don't make food like Martha S. with her goat cheese and other interesting things that you can never find at a normal persons grocery store.
Anyway, you can eat this just the way it is or you can serve it on a bun and make a sandwich out of it. It's super easy and pretty tasty to my family loves this meal. I just took this to one of my visiting teaching ladies who was sick and her husband caught me at church and told me how much they loved it. You can also use a pork roast instead of chicken and it's just as good. I got this recipe from my mom who in turn got it from a gal in her ward who is known for her cooking skills.
Easy Chicken Salsa Bake
Chicken Tenders
1 bottle Salsa
1 cup brown sugar
Lay chicken in casserole dish or baker (I lightly spray with pam). Pour bottle of salsa over chicken then sprinkle on brown sugar. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hr 15 minutes. Take out and shred then bake for additional 10 minutes. Serve alone or on buns. Serves 6-8

Holy Addicting

Alright I discovered these little treats about a month ago and it's like a little piece of Heaven wrapped in pretty foil. If you love Dove chocolate you will love these. And I just found some at Wally's that are laced with chopped almonds Seriously can it get any better? The almond ones and the milk chocolate are my favorite. I have never tried the milk chocolate meltaway. Oh man why do they have to be so good! Here is a link for a $1.00 off coupon for a bag of these babies! Just a little enabling to get you hooked as well. I mean what kind of friend would I be if I didn't share the love, & isn't chocolate one of the four food groups? Cha' Yeah!
